Agnes Lorene Gaumer, youngest child of Homer Clifton Burchett and Edna Iona Glazebrook Burchett, was born September 24, 1923 in Clarke County, Iowa. She passed from this life on July 30, 2003 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 79 years.

Agnes graduated from Murray High School in 1941. She lived in the Murray area all of her life and on the Gaumer family farm from 1949 until retiring and moving to Murray in 1991.

On May 3, 1941, she was married in Bethany, Missouri to Loren Merton Gaumer, son of Chester Whipple Gaumer and Katie Mae Wolfe Gaumer. They were the parents of four children: Judy Lorene, Ronald Eugene, Roger Merton and Randy Gale Gaumer.

Agnes was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was a member of the Murray Church of Christ, the Friends Sunday School class, and she taught Sunday School in the past.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son Roger Gaumer; sister Madge Strubhar; sisters-in-law Lillian Burchett, Dorothy Gaumer, Arlene Gaumer and Ruby Franck and brothers-in-law Orville Gaumer, Robert Franck and granddaughter-in-law Rae Gaumer.

She is survived by her husband Loren Gaumer of Murray, Iowa; daughter Judy Gaumer of Des Moines, Iowa; son Ronald Gaumer and wife Laura of Osceola, Iowa; daughter-in-law Kathi Gaumer of Murray, Iowa; son Randy Gaumer and wife Jeanne of Murray, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Arnold Gaumer of Hawaii; Debby Thomas and husband Jimmy, Rhonda Gillyard and husband Frank, and Glenda Montoya all of Temeculah, California; Jeremy Gaumer and wife Wendy of Des Moines, Iowa; Jacki Gaumer of Des Moines, Iowa; Robb Gaumer and wife Anne-Marie of Schererville, Indiana; and Elissa Rance and husband Geoffrey of Dyer, Indiana; and 13 great grandchildren; Tara, Rachel and Connie Gaumer, Chaz, Sean, and Jamie Thomas, Taneisha, Keana, and Frank Gillyard III, Christopher Montoya, Natasha and Julia Cabael and Amber Gaumer. Also surviving are brother, Gale Burchett and brother-in-law, Olin Strubhar of Murray, Iowa and other relatives and a host of friends.

Burial in Murray Cemetery, Murray, IA.
