Taylor and Fitzsimmons

TAYLOR, FITZSIMMONS

I am looking for any information on a marriage between my father's aunt, Melda A. Fitzsimmons of Lawler, and a man named Taylor.

Melda was born in 1863 near Clermont, Fayette County, Iowa moved to Lawler in 1871 with her family and probably died before 1910. Her name, "Melda" could be short for "Imelda" which may have been further shortened to "Nell".

I know nothing at all about Taylor. With the help of Mr. Leonard Granger, I've learned of a Lawler and Ionia family of Taylors, the O.A. and O.B. Taylor families. The "O." stands for Oliver, and they were father and son. O.A. Taylor was married in 1874 and it appears that he and his wife had an eldest child (a girl) born in 1877 or 1878. It doesn't seem likely to me that one of O.A. Taylor's children was married to Melda Fitzsimmons, but perhaps O.A. Taylor had a brother or a cousin.

The Fitzsimmons-Taylor marriage was probably held in the Catholic parish of Lawler.
