Frankie A. Morrow, 74, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Wednesday, July 15 in Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee due to an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee. There will be military rites at graveside by L. A. Wescott VFW Post #2253.

Mr. Morrow was born September 17, 1923, at Pisgah, Iowa to Frank and Dorothy (Wood) Morrow. He attended school in Cherokee. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served in the South Pacific on the destroyer tender USS Hammel during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. On January 22, 1946, he married Donna Morton in Dakota City, Nebraska. He worked for France’s Hatchery and lived in Cherokee for a number of years before moving to Centerville, South Dakota where he worked and managed the Hartley Creamery for 12 years. Upon returning to Cherokee, he worked for Lane-Moore Lumber Co. and Christensen Bros. driving a cement truck, retiring in 1984. He was a m ember of L. A. Wescott VFW Post #2253. He enjoyed having his family visit, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; five children: Linda and her husband, Don Poll, Centerville; Frank Morrow Jr. and his wife Carolyn, Cherokee; Donald “Ike” Morrow and his wife, Deb, Larrabee, Iowa; Cinday Strahmann, Larrabee; and Bonnie and her husband, David Lambert, Ft. Polk, Louisiana; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Dale “Teddy” Morrow, Cherokee; and Dwight “Oley” Morrow and his wife, Rose, Crescent, Iowa; and two sisters: Dorothy and her husband, DeWayne House, Mitchell, South Dakota; and Coleen Wieland and Ronny, Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Robert Wallace; Lynn; Meredith; and Roy; five sisters: Audrey Lickiss; Joyce Hollenbeck; Betty Small; Donna Woodyard; and Phyllis in infancy; and a son-in-law, Bill Strahmann on May 14, 1998.
