A Child Burned to Death.
Mason City Republican:—We are pained to chronicle the death of little Lesie{sic} Lee Lock, the four year old son of Thos. Lock and wife, which occured on Thursday, April 18. The Lock family reside on a farm a few miles northwest of the city. On the day in question the father was out plowing and the boy came over to see him. He was let ride on the plow for a time and then sent him to the house. As it was a still day Mr. Lock had set fire to some slough grass. The boy went home and told his mother he wanted to go back again to where his father was having a fire. The mother thought the father was near so consented that Lester return. Not long after the father saw the boy running with his clothes on fire. Of course he made all possible speed to his aid, but was too late to save his life. The fire had consumed nearly all the little fellow’s clothing and burned his body so bad{l}y that he died although medical aid was secured as soon as possible.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows the name as Lester and that he was born Oct. 1, 1890 and is buried in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.
