Prompt Work Saves Life of Clear Lake Plumber
Special to Times Republican
Clear Lake, July 22-Decidely prompt work saved the life yesterday of H. V. Burdick. He was engaged at plumbing work at a ditch. There is a great deal of quick sand in the dirt here and when he was not expecting it there was a cave in which completely engulfed Mr. Burdick. Fortunately one of the men who were assisting him was close at hand, and knowing just where to dig went to work and in a very short time had enough removed to expose his head and give him breathe. A big crowd of men soon gathered about and they had to be beaten back to prevent the rest of the earth surrounding from caving in. Burdick was quite a little bruised but will come out alright.
