Funeral services for Frederick H. Townsend, 72, Tipton, were held June 1, 1989 at the Lacock Funeral Home, Wilton with the Rev. Telford Dindinger officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale cemetery.
Mr. Townsend died at his rural Tipton home May 30.
The son of Frank and Connie Kaufmann Townsend, he was born Jan. 22, 1916 in Tipton. He married Ruth Kirkpatrick July 24, 1948 in Keota.
Mr. Townsend attended the Wilton schools and college in Ames. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy, member of Masonic Lodge 167 and a member of the Kaaba Shrine Temple, Davenport Consistory.
He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Charles, Des Moines and Frank, Wilton; 3 daughters, Mrs. Tim (Elizabeth Ann) Stoffer, Bettendorf; Mrs. Rick (Mary) Crooks, Wilton and Mrs. Marlin (Barb) Benning, Grand River; 5 grandchildren; a brother, Herbert, Wilton and a sister, Mrs. Merle (Mildred) Glenney, Muscatine.
