October 22, 1981 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Dorcas Gardner, 96, were held at the Dye Funeral Home Oct. 17 with the Rev. Dale Marshall officiating. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth and James Smith, Milo Carroll, Larry Hartig, Denny Domer and Reuben Nelson. Mrs. Dale Marshall was vocalist and Mrs. Arnold Swan organist. Mrs. Kenneth Smith and Mrs. Marguerite Smith were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Gardner died at Cedar Manor Oct. 4.
The daughter of Cyrus and Elizabeth Martin Dorcas, she was born near Tipton March 30, 1885. She was educated in the rural elementary schools, graduated from Tipton high school and from Cedar Falls Normal college. She was married to Edwin Wallace Gardner in Tipton in 1905.

She lived at Stanwood and Tipton and was a member of the Stanwood Womans club, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and its Past Matron's club and the United Church of Christ, Tipton.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Carroll, Tipton; a niece, Mrs. Mary Dorcas, Tipton and 3 step grandsons, Bob Carroll, Atlanta, GA; James Selfridge, Cedar Rapids and William Selfridge, Tipton. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1939.
