Last rites for Harold E. Hillyer, 72, will be held at Peace Church of Christ United, Bennett, at 10:30 a.m. today (Nov. 19) with the Rev. Donald Gardella officiating. Burial will be in Inland cemetery. Pallbearers are Richard Sieck, Allen Behrens, Marlin Hillyer, Jim Schmidt, Lynn Paustian and Delmar Pedersen. Ruth Riedesel is organist and Shirley Von Muenster is vocalist.

Mr. Hillyer died at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport Nov. 16.

The son of Earl and Maude McCroskey Hillyer, he was born near Tipton July 17, 1914 and was educated in the rural schools of the county. He was married to Florence L. Sieck at Lowden Feb. 25, 1941. A lifelong resident of the Tipton-Bennett area, he had last been employed by Fields Lumber Co. He was a member of Peace church and the Bennett Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Diane) Hermiston, Durant; 2 sons, Dennis, Bayfield, Colo. and Darrell, Davenport; 8 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Gladys) Paustian, Durant; Mrs. Violet Deering, Wilton; Mrs. Lorraine Jones, Kalona and 2 brothers, Raymond, Bennett and LaMoyne, Tipton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
