Funeral services for Hilda Brookes, 89, Iowa City, were held June 16 at Sheets and Son Funeral Home, with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery in Mechanicsville.

Hilda Brookes died June 13 at Beverly Manor nursing home in Iowa City following an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 20, 1896 in England and attended schools in England. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by several cousins in England and Australia. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
