Funeral services for Merwyn Farnham Boots, 83, were held at the United Methodist church, Mechanicsville, April 24 with the Rev. Jaymee Glenn Burns, assisted by the Rev. Gary Hatcher, a grandson, officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were Ricki, Randy, Philip and Michael Boots and Mark and Douglas Hatcher. Mrs. Calvin Robinson was organist.

Mr. Boots died April 21.

The son of David and Esther Farnham Boots, he was born in Jones county Nov. 9, 1903. He graduated from Morley high school in 1923. He married Reva Vernon at Anamosa March 16, 1925.

The couple lived in Minnesota for a short time, then moved to Anamosa in 1930 and to Mechanicsville in 1934. He was a mechanic and welder and an honorary member of the Iowa Blacksmiths and Welders association. He was a member of the Methodist church in Morley, Elk River and Mechanicsville.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Vernon and William, both of Mechanicsville; 2 daughters, Anna Mary Boots, Cedar Rapids and Florence Hatcher, New Virginia; 3 sisters, Mrs. Carl (Margaret) Thompson and Mrs. Carl (Gladys) Westberg, Elk River, Minn. and Mrs. Kedrick (Vera) Johnson, Zimmerman, Minn.; a brother, Richard, Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren/
