Final rites were held at the Huffman Funeral home at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon for John Clements, pioneer resident of Carroll, who passed away Monday night after a lengthy illness. Preceding the service, at which the Rev. Robert M. Peters, minister of the Methodist church, officiated, a fifteen-minute piano prelude was played by Mrs. Ronald Ream.
A quartet composed of C. M. Bayless, L. E. Sweany, G. D. Pringle and E. F. Osburn sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "Abide With Me," accompanied by Mrs. Ream.
Burial was in the Carroll cemetery and pallbearers were: W. M. Kilgore, C. E. Ellsworth, Walter Mohler, Wayne Harriott, Dr. W. Humphrey and Carl Bauerle.
Out-of-town relatives and friends at the rites included: Mrs. George Holland (Gladys Clements) and Miss Ruth Clements, New York City; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clements of Sioux City and daughter, Mrs. Jack Wasmond of Dakota City, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thompson and son, Howard, Lake City; Mrs. Grace Fritz, Mrs. William Milliron and Miss Elsie Milliron, Omaha; Mrs. Nellie Watson and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Bremner, Vail.
