Oops! Correction: My message should have said "maternal" grandfather. I have received a lot of information in a short time from wonderful volunteers. We now know that the name in Sweden was Pettersson Lindgren and that some Petersons in the US are related. I wonder if the Lindgrens in Fairfield Township are related and if any Petersons in Buena Vista County are. Magnus' brother was Anders (Andrew), born in 1829; I don't know if he came to the US. Magnus also had a nephew Ed Peterson who lived in Clinton, IA, in 1915. It is possible that Ed was Andrew's son, since a family meeting their description lived in Clinton in 1880 when Magnus did (per Census). Perhaps Magnus' cousins came to the U.S. He had an older sister Martha born in 1827; two other brothers died as young children.
Magnus wife was Anna Jonsdotter in Sweden. Her father was Jon Svensson. I have seen her surname as Jonson and Swanson. She apparently had a niece in South Dakota in 1925. Her brothers were Sven and Magnus. Sisters were Ingrid and Stina.
Would love to hear from anyone knowing about these great-great aunts and uncles.
