Connie M. Meister, 73, of Independence, IA, died on Monday, January 27. 2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Connie was born on August 27, 1951, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Harry W. and Bernice M. (Waitman) Johnson. She grew up in Brandon, IA, and spent a lot of her time with her cousins. She enjoyed spending her youth outside and loved caring for animals. In 1969, she graduated from Independence High School and went on to study at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, IA. She became a Certified Nurses Aide and started working at the Mental Health Institute in Independence.

On December 24, 1973, Connie married George A. Meister, and they made their home together in Independence. Connie stopped working and stayed home to care for the house, George and her cats.

She is survived by her brother, Ric Johnson, Independence, IA, and several cousins.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Bernice Johnson, and her husband, George Meister.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 PM until 4 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, in the Community Room of the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA. Inurnment will be held at Wilson Cemetery.
