Terry L. Vice, 66, on Independence, IA, died on Friday, January 24, 2025, at her home in Independence, IA surrounded by her loved ones.

Terry was born on April 18, 1958, in Aberdeen, SD, the daughter of James and LaBeth A. (Fisher) Barnes. She spent her early years in South Dakota, but the Barnes family moved to Davenport, IA in 1964. There Terry graduated from West High School in 1979.

In the early 1990s, Terry moved to Independence, IA, to be closer to her family. She soon started working as a Home Health Aide with the Buchanan County Health Center and later as a Certified Nurse's Aide at ABCM Rehabilitation Center in Independence.

Terry will be missed for her fun, laid-back personality. When her kids were growing up, she was a “fun Mom,” and all their friends knew that.

She enjoyed crafting, and when her grandchildren came over, she was always ready with a project to work on. Or they were busy in the kitchen, making puppy chow, or homemade donuts. She made it a point to be involved in her grandchildren’s lives and went to all of their events.

She is survived by her mother, LaBeth Barnes, Independence, IA, her children; Rhiannon Vice, Waterloo, IA, Dustin (Brenda) Vice, Quasqueton, IA, Ashlie Vice, Independence, IA, three grandchildren; Adustyn Vice, Tanyr Vice, Mia Mangrich, a great-grandchild, Brynlee Bush, two sisters, Cindy (Greg) Hainline, Winthrop, IA, and Tammy (Brad) Berendts, Clyde Park, MT, and several nieces and nephews.

Terry is preceded in death by her father, James Barnes, and a sister, Lori Barnes.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
