As of today, there are 142,310 newspaper pages for Bremer County available free online going back as far as 1856. The main problem is that from 1925 to the present, no Waverly newspapers have been digitized. This is because the local newspaper in Waverly will not grant permission to have the microfilms digitized. The local library has approached them several times with no success. It is really sad because so many, many of the local libraries in Iowa have worked with their local newspapers to make available these valuable historical newspapers [at no cost to the newspaper due to grants etc.] Newspapers from 1924 for Waverly are only available on microfilm in Waverly, Iowa City and some in Des Moines. For prior years and for Sumner, the newspapers are great!
