Died in an Epileptic Fit.
Simeon Cain, aged 33, son of William
Cain, who lives just north of J. U. Garner's
residence north of town, died Monday
afternoon at 5 -30 o'clock The deceased,
who was subject to epileptic fits,
said to his mother about 5 o'clock that he
felt unwell and would go up to his room
and lie down. This not being unusual the
family thought nothing of it, but half an
hour later one of his sisters, on going into
his room for something, found him lying
on the bed face downward and apparently
dead She called to her mother and another
brother, the latter being at work in
an adjacent barn, which attracted the attention
of Mr. Adin Terry who was driving
past, and he stopped his team and
went into the house. Hurrying up stairs
he found the man black in the face, lying
as stated, and immediately turned him
over. The heart still beat faintly, but he
was too far gone to be resuscitated aad
a few moments life became extinct.
The coroner, Dr. Barber, who was
once notified, went to the house and
from statements as above and the appearance
of the body , concluded that the deceased when taken with the fit must have
turned over, burying his face in the pillow and suffocated while in a state of
unconsciousness. In view of these facts
no inquest was deemed necessary.
The funeral was held on the 25th inst,
conducted by Rev Dr Lloyd.Waverly Democrat page 4 1891 3-26
