Smothered Their Baby.
Waverly, Iowa, Dec. 2.—Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cook were bereft of their only child under most distressing circumstances. They left their home in Washington township in the morning to come to Waverly and spend Thanksgiving with their relatives and when they arrived at their destination they were horrified to find that their child was dead, presumably having suffocated from being muffled up too closely. The little one was a girl a year and a half old. The funeral was held Saturday.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Margaret who was born Nov. 18, 1897 and died Nov. 24, 1898. She is buried in Harlington Cemetery.
