Services were held Friday, Feb 8, at the Slininger-Rossow Funeral Chapel in Jefferson for Marjorie Alice Gilley Hellman, 87, of Grand Junction, longtime Greene county area resident.
The Rev Lorinda H.M. Hoover of First United Methodist Church of Grand Junction officiated. Marilynn Hoskinson was soloist, with Carson Griffith as organist. Honorary casket bearers were Jackie Gannon, Jody Fox, Judy Smith, Machelle Fisher and Melodee Cox.
Casket bearers were Jeff, Greg and Tim Gilley, Randy, Mike, Mark and Joe Fisher, and Don and Doug Tourte. Interment was in Union Township Cemetery at Coon Rapids.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Boone.
Marjorie Alice Ayers Gilley Hellman was born Dec 14, 1914, at Coon Rapids. She was the daughter of John Ayers and Sarepta May Sigler Ayers.
Marjorie attended school at Old Carrollton. She married Myron Edgar Gilley on Jan. 1, 1933, at Blair, NE. They became the parents of four children.
The couple lived in Coon Rapids, then moved to Bagley and then Beaver. They lived and farmed at Grand Junction and Dana. Marjorie belonged to the Methodist Church in Dana.
In 1960 Marjorie and Myron moved into Grand Junction. Myron died July 24, 1964.
Marjorie continued to live the rest of her live in Grand Junction, and for several years she worked at Hannah's Restaurant. She married Harold Hellman on Nov. 25, 1967.
Marjorie died Feb. 6, 2002, at Boone County Hospital in Boone. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Myron Gilley; four sisters, Anna Stewart, May Moreland, Myrtle Ayers and Sadie Ayers; five brothers, Fred, Mart, Walter, Frank and Harold; and two great-grandchildren, Blake Alan Fox and Pamela Fisher.
Survivors include her husband Harold Hellman; two daughters, Shirley Mae Johnson of Norwalk and Donna Kae Tourte of Paton; two sons, Vernace Elwin "Buck" Gilley of Glendale, AZ., and James Frank "Jim" Gilley of Grand Junction; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
