Death certificates from 1873??

Wondering if death certificates and/or obituaries go back as far as 1873 - July 4, 1873 to be exact. My gggrandmother, Anna Maria Yetter Gulden was supposed to have been killed on July 4, 1873 in an accident involving her hair and the bridles of a horse and wagon. I am new at this and am not sure how to research this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. THank you - Diana
