Looking for info. about Wakefield's of Weatfield township Indiana county Penn.. Susanna Wakefield married George Keilholtz and is shown in the 1870 fed. census. Susanna is shown in the 1880 fed. census as Anna Wakefield she died in Boone County Iowa in 1902 and is buired with the name Anna Wakefield. We Wakefield's of Penn. are said to be the family of David and his many sons. We are an Anglo Irish family of John Wakfield born in England about 1620. Samuel Wakefield marries Susanna "Anna" L. Bower. In Rock Island County on Nov.16, 1846. Samuel’s sister Lucinda M. Wakefield was married Joseph Cox Cameron of New Castles Mercer County Penn. on May 1,1845 in Rock Island Ills.. Thomas Samuel's dad is found in the 1830 Indiana county and 1840 Mercer county Penn. fed. census. Samuel Wakefield born about 1816 is the son of Thomas Wakefield born 1793 Penn. son of Thomas Wakefield born in 1757 Ireland the son of David Sr. Wakefield. Samuel M.Wakefield is shown in the Rock Island fed. Census he is living with his wife Susanna the oldest girl is Rachel the 1 year old boy was shown as Thomas Later known in Scott county land records as Morton T. Wakefield. Thomas born in 1793 buys Samuel’s Rock Island land. Only to sell the land on the same day, for a 30% loss, the same day Thomas buy's Samuel M. Wakefield's land. Samuel makes the buy on the Princeton, Scott county, Iowa land; April 1851. So the move looks like summer of 1851. In Scott county Iowa's land records Thomas born in Penn. 1793. Sells his land in Princeton Township to Samuel M. Wakefield and Wife Susanna Wakefield. The Iowa State census of 1856 name all of family and ask when you entered the state. Samuel and Susanna Wakefield entered the state in 1851. The first 3 or so Wakefield children were born in the state of Ills. The last Wakefield children born were born in Iowa. Samuel is late paying his land taxes in the year of 1859. His last land buy was Dec. 1857. He did not seek a farming loan in the spring of 1858. My thinking is Samuel died Jan. of 1858. The hard to read Fed. Mortality census of Scott County has a Samuel Wakefield a Penn. man reported as died in the last 2 years, 1858 to 1860. The 1860 Fed. Census records show the Wakefield is family all over Scott County. Susanna is living with the John B. Doty family. Doty's are new from Indiana county Penn. The Doty's lived in the township next to Weatfield. How well the Wakefield's knew the Doty family isn't known. However they traveled a long way from Penn.. Just to buy land from Samuel M. Wakefield and live next to Samuel and Thomas in Princeton Township Iowa. Morton Wakefield is living with the Pennyo family in Princeton as shown is the 1860 federal census. Older sister Rachel is in Le Claire Township. Susanna Wakefield married George Keilholtz Scott county 1862. Rachel married George Ferral in Dec. 1862 In Le Claire Scott County. George Died in the battle of Vicksburg due to sickness, he was in the Iowa's 24th Inf.. George Ferral is buried with out friend in the Ferral cemt. in Henry County Iowa. Clearly early Ferral’s of Ont. Canada made their earliest starts in Iowa from their Henry County Iowa land holdings. Then later the Ferral’s settled in Clinton County Iowa. My Great Grand father Morton T. Wakefield left Scott county in the spring of 1875. Susanna Bower Wakefield Keilholtz sold Samuel Wakefield's last land bought in Dec. 1857. The family as shown in the state Scott County, Princeton, census of 1856 in Iowa sold Samuel's land and diveded up. Morton also received money from a trust held by the Davenport Press. church at the same time. Morton's obit. of 1935 it is said he came to California the first time in 1875. Morton is shown in the 1900 fed. census of Santa Barbara California. Morton's earliest children were born in Covina in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angles county California the last of the Wakefield children were born in Lompoc of Santa Barbara county California.
