Sharon Marie Cole, age 69, of 309-17th Street in Boone and formerly of Des Moines passed away at the Boone County Hospital on January 18, 2012. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Bertelson officiating. Burial will be in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport.

Ms. Cole was born March 28, 1942, in Boone, the daughter of James Ernest and Edna (Johnson) Cole. She was a 1960 graduate of Boone High School. She was employed by Iowa State University for several years and retired in 1997 with 24 years of service from US West Communications in Des Moines. She was a member of the Dodge Township 4-H Club in Boone, Des Moines Telephone Pioneers of America, First Baptist Church in Boone, and a former member of the Mineral Ridge Baptist Church in Ridgeport. She enjoyed traveling, interior decorating, and reading. Ms. Cole was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Jim, Walter, and Raymond, and a sister Alice and brother-in-law Joe LeQuia. She is survived by two sisters Pearl Cole and Betty Mowrer and husband Rawleigh, all of Boone; a brother Donald Cole of Boone; and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Friday from 2 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the Church from 10 a.m. until service time.
