Marilyn Jones, 69, of Boone died of cancer Sunday at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at church of the Sacred Heart in Boone, of which she was a member. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date.
Mrs. Jones had lived in Boone all her life. She had been a sales clerk at Memory Lane in Boone and enjoyed sewing and cross stitch.
She is survived by her husband, Lou; a son, Michael of Boone; three daughters Rhonda Dennis of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Mary Lou Williams of West Des Moines and Marcia Backous of Boone; three brothers, David Reed and Tom Reed, both of Boone, and Richard Reed of West Des Moines; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel prior to memorial services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
