May 19, 1975Leonard L. Baker, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Born Jan. 26, 1916, in Garrison, he was married to Juanita Porter Feb. 8, 1945, in Hannibal, Mo. A Cedar Rapids resident the last 20 years, he was a harness race horse owner, trainer and driver at East Moline Downs; a veteran of World War II, and a member of Amvets post 50, the U.S. Trotting Assn. and the Illinois Harness Racing Assn.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Charles Langton, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Darrell Davis, Richardson, Texas; four sons, Warren Carney, Fort Lewis, Wash.; Thomas L. Carney and Leonard L. Baker II, both of Cedar Rapids, and John E. Baker, Davenport; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Prosper DeWulf and Mrs. Gayle Dew, both of Cedar Rapids, and a brother, Raymond Baker, Dysart.
Services: 1:30 Wednesday at Kuba funeral home east by the Rev. Charles Mehaffey. Burial Linwood. Military graveside services by Amvet post 350. Friends may call at Kuba’s east after 7 pm Monday.

Juanita H. Baker, 72, formerly of Lisbon and Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, April 4, 1995, in Mercy Medical Center after a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today.
The Rev. Charles Mehaffey will officiate. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.Survivors include two daughters, Beatrice Davis of Richardson, Texas, and Debra Langton of Ely; four sons, Warren Carney of Waynesville, Mo., Thomas Carney of Las Vegas, John Baker of Hampton, Ill., and Leonard Baker of Lisbon; a sister, Virginia Cavins, and a brother, Harry Porter, both of Wisconsin. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Warren and Leonard, her parents, a sister and a brother.Born Aug. 7, 1922, in Hannibal, Mo., to Harry and Edna Brimm Porter, she married Warren Carney. He died in World War II. She then married Leonard Baker on Feb. 7, 1946. He died May 17, 1975. Juanita was a retired cook and worked at the Safari Restaurant and Broken Drum. She enjoyed her flowers and working in the garden.
