Doris Lorraine Trefz, 68, of Vinton, died Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the Keystone Care Center, Keystone, IA.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022.
Doris was born July 18, 1953 at Vinton, the daughter of Carl and Betty (Butler) Primmer. She attended school in Vinton, graduating in 1972.
On August 3, 1974, Doris was united in marriage to Randy Trefz at the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Vinton. Throughout her working years, Doris had various jobs in the Vinton area. Of these, being a cook at the jail, waitressing/cooking at Mary’s Café and teaching the students at the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School to do tap and ballet for their talent show was top on Doris’s “favorite” list.
In her spare time, Doris had many “loves”-motorcycle rides, shopping, eating at Applebee’s, vacations at Lake of the Ozarks, week-end getaways at Lake Delhi, her swimming pool, and most of all, her dogs, Maggie and Cooper.
Doris is survived by her four daughters: Polly (Pete) Peterman of Cedar Rapids, Brandy Trefz (Joseph Gonzales) of Long Island, NY, Carrie (Shane) Powers of Vinton and Tina (Cody) Mullinex of Shellsburg; Dusty Clausen who was loved like a son; one brother, Rick (Pam) Primmer of Vinton; one sister, Trudy Evans of Vinton; seven grandchildren: Carl Zink, Alicia and Marissa Garcia, Weston and Eli Powers, and Isabel and Owen Mullinex; three step-grandchildren: Kiana (Jeremy) Poolaw, Marissa (Erik) Schuchmann and Chelsea Peterman; and four step-great-grandchildren: Eli and Nikki Poolaw, Michael Schuchmann and CJ Peterman.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 47 years, Randy; sisters: Carla Bauer and Pam Schminke; and brother-in-law, Ron Evans.
