SUDDEN DEATH--------
Mrs. Anton Nepper, West of Town,
Dropped Dead Wednesday Evening,
Cause Being Apoplexy--------
Our people were greatly shocked
last Thursday when the news
reached town that Mrs. Anton
Nepper had died very suddenly
on the evening before of apoplexy.
She had just returned home from
Carroll that noon where she had
been with her only son, Pete, to
attend the wedding of a niece. She
remarked, upon returning, that she
had never felt so good in her life
and that she was going to take
another trip there in a short time. But, while appearing and feeling
so well, yet Death had her in its
clutches and she passed to her
reward that evening. The funeral
services were held Saturday
morning at the Holy Trinity
church in this city, conducted by
Father Wieland after which interment
took place at the Catholic
cemetery.Mrs. Anton Nepper (Elizabeth
Ventricher) was born in Germany
August 2d, 1856, and died in Exira,
Iowa, May 20th, 1908. She came to
this country in 1869, and was married
to Anton Nepper February 25,
1873, at St. Lucas, Iowa, where they
resided two years and then moved
to Carroll, Iowa. They lived at
Carroll until fifteen years ago when
they purchased the farm they now
own just west of Exira. To this union were born seven
children of which six are still
living,--Mrs. Henry Tharnish, Mrs.
Frank Braun, Mrs. Dim Rieff, Mrs.
Anthony Kommes, Pete and Gertrude. Her brother, Mr. George Ventricher
and wife and her two
sisters, Mrs. Peter Williams and
husband and Mrs. Frank Tigges
and husband, all from Carroll,
Iowa, were here to the funeral.
