Sad Accident at Des Moines.--------
Yesterday morning at 10 o'clock
as Mrs. Maria Hensley of this city
was crossing the street from the
Morgan House in Des Moines, to the
depot to come home she was run
over and knocked down by a run
away team, breaking one leg just
above the ankle in two places,
besides trampling her body underfoot
inflicting perhaps fatal
injuries. Her nephew, Officer
Eckels, saw and tried to reach her
before she was thrown down but
could not reach her in time. She
was removed to the Methodist
hospital where she lies today in a
precarious condition. Her daughter,
Mrs. J. H. Bishop, and Mrs. F.
M. Hensley took the evening train
last night for Des Moines.Note: Father of Maria Anna Reichert (1833-1909) was Henry Reichert. Maria was married 1st to James Eckels and married 2nd to John Jackson Hensley.
