Boy Badly Injured When
Truck Passes Over Him--------
Vernel Rasmussen, son of A. T.
Rasmussen and wife, of Brayton,
met with a very serious accident
Tuesday. He was riding on the
rear of the truck which was carrying
the school children from Brayton
to Exira and was to drive the
truck back home. The boy tried
to climb around the side of the
truck to the driver's seat while the
car was in motion, missed his
footing and fell to the ground, the
rear wheel passing over his chest.
Three ribs above the heart were
broken and he was otherwise injured.
He was rushed to the Atlantic
hospital where he lies in a
critical condition.Vernel is 18 years old, and was
a member of the graduating class
of the Exira high school last
spring.Audubon County Journal (IA)
