At his residence, March 22, 1882, Henry N. Gates, aged 63 years. The deceased was born in Ross county, Ohio, was married in 1858 to Mary J. Richards; came to Iowa 1862. Settled in Appanoose county, and remained until his death. He leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his loss. A member of the M.E. church fourteen years; but not until a few weeks before his death did he enter in to the joys of salvation. He left comfortable assurance that he has gone home to dwell with the Savior, and his friends that had passed on before. Funeral services by the Rev. T. Stephenson.
