WIEMERSLAGE, GADE, KUEHL, FRANCK, STAGGEMEYER

Mrs. Anna Mathilda Wiemerslage was born in Jefferson township, Houston county, Minn., May 12th, 1897. She was the daughter of Mr. William Gade, and his wife Dorothea, nee Kuehl, both of whom preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin in infancy and William in 1951.

She was baptized June 6th, 1897 by the Rev. Henry Kruse and confirmed on April 9th, 1911 by the Rev. Karl Bizer in St. John's Evangelical church. She spent her childhood and youth in Jefferson township and also attended public school there.

On Jan. 17, 1924 she was united in marriage with John W. Wiemerslage, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. Karl Bizer.

Two children were born to this union. Mr. and Mrs. Wiemerslage resided on a farm in Iowa township, Allamakee county, until the year 1936 when they moved to New Albin and established their home.

Mrs. Wiemerslage was a kind neighbor, a loving mother ad counsellor, and was an active member of St. Peter's church and for 15 years she and family took care of the janitor work. She attended church services regularly when health permitted; she was a member of the Women's Guild.

She has been ailing for over a year. On June 5th she entered St. Francis hospital, La Crosse, and died there Tuesday, June 16th, at 11:15 a.m. reaching an age of 56 years, 1 month and 14 days.

She is survived by her husband, one son Lester at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Franck, Rochester, Minn.; 3 grand-daughters; the mother-in-law Mrs. Emma Wiemerslage, at home. She is also survived by three sisters, Frieda (Mrs. Fred Wiemerslage), Dorchester, Iowa; Emma (Mrs. Louie Staggemeyer) Eitzen; Martha (Mrs. August Staggemeyer), Eitzen; one brother Louis, New Albin; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Martha Gade, New Albin.

Funeral services were conducted from the home on Friday, June 19 at 1:45 p.m. and from St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church at two o'clock. Interment was made in the Wheatland cemetery with the Rev. P.H. Franzmeier officiating. Casket bearers were Paul Gade, Elmer, Fredmont and Armin Staggemeyer and Armin and Raymond Wiemerslage.

Friends and relatives in attendance at the funeral services were from Eitzen, Caledonia, La Crescent, St. Charles and Rochester, Minn., and Dorchester and Sumner, Iowa.
