McMILLIN, Emma J. (Merrell) 1869-1948

After a long illness, Mrs. Emma Julia McMillin passed away at the home of her daughter and son in -law, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Skelton, of Mullingar, Sask, Canada, on Tuesday, February 24th.

Mrs. McMillin, as Emma Julia Merrell, was born Oct. 8, 1869, in Wisconsin. On Nov. 28, 1885, she was married to Charley Henry McMillin at Waukon, Iowa, where they lived for 28 years, operating the French Creek mill.

They came to Central Butte, Sask., in 1913 where they took up farming. In 1931 the family came to Rabbit Lake and then in 1934 to Mullingar.

They were the parents of 12 children, 11 of whom are still living, 7 sons and 4 daughters. One daughter, Mrs. Flossie Sandry of Lansing, Iowa passed away in 1918 and was buried in Central Butte, Sask. Mr. McMillin died March 31, 1938.

Left to mourn their mother are: Mrs. Charles Skelton and Mrs. Wm. Dupeon of Mullingar; Mrs. I. Holdal, Pierceland, Sask.; Mrs. B. Bellows, Salmon Arm, B.C.; Leroy McMillin, of Mullingar; J.W. of Hanley, Sask.; Lawrence, of Pierceland; Charlie and Clarence, Fairview, Alberta; Floyd of Regina, Sask.; Jessie L., Watertown, S.D.; also 56 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held in the community hall conducted by Elder Rasmussen of Saskatoon, Sask., on February 27th.
