Walter Henry Neumann, son of Henry Neumann and the late Hulda Goeke Neumann was corn in Crooked Creek Twp. Houston County, Minn. on April 12, 1919, and passed away unexpectedly at the Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, Wis., of a heart attack on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 21st, 1959 at 2:30. He attained the age of 39 years, 9 months and none days.

On May 25, 1919 he was dedicated to the Lord in Holy Baptism at St. Peter's E. & R. Church. When he was about ten years old his mother passed away. Thereafter he made his home with the Benjaman Pohlman family. He grew to manhood in Jefferson Twp. where he worked as a laborer on the farms of the community.

In 1942 he was called into the armed services and in 1944 was sent over seas, into the Pacific Theatre of the war, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. He returned to the states in January of 1946.

On December 16, 1943, he was united in marriage to Esther Meyer of the Wheatland Community by the Rev. Emil Roth. To this union were born two daughters; Sharon Kay 12, and Katherine Ann 7.

Mr. Neumann spent about 12 years in the Army and the Reserves. For the past eight years he had been working in the Rubber Mills at La Crosse. He was at work at the time he was stricken.

He leaves to mourn his untimely death his bereaved wife Esther, his two daughters Sharon and Katherine, at home, his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Neumann of St. Paul, Ervin of La Crosse, and Helmer of Houston, Minn., besides other more distant relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother, one sister, Donna, and a brother George, who lost his life in the service of his country.

Casket bearers were Versell Pohlman, Melvin Pohlman, Merlin Reinke, Howard Meyer, Lester Meyer, and Edwin Neumann. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 o'clock p.m. from St Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church, New Albin. Rev. Emil Burrichter officiated, burial being made in the Wheatland Cemetery.
