Russell Kevin Stalter, 62, of Stuart, Iowa passed away Sunday November 11, 2012 at his home. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2012 at the All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Stuart-Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Stuart. Burial will be held in South Oak Grove Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Kevin Stalter Scholarship Memorial Fund to be established through the Southeast Polk Dollars for Scholars. He was born in Indianola, Iowa on May 13, 1950. He attended Southeast Polk Schools where he met the first love of his life, Deborah Robinson. They both graduated from Iowa State University and were married on August 28, 1971.
Kevin dedicated his life to education, serving on the faculty at Adair-Casey, Southeast Polk, and Des Moines Roosevelt schools. He also served on the Stuart, West Central board of education. Along with his wife Debbie, Kevin served as a director of the United Nations tour of Greater Des Moines for 22 years. He also coached football, wrestling, and tennis and, late in life, began instructing drivers' education.
Kevin is survived by mother Ruth White, son Tobias Stalter (Morgan) daughters Jane Fujiwara (Motoaki) and Margaret Stalter (David Weber), brother John Stalter (Pam), step sisters Pat Folsom (Robert) and Penny Menard (Dan), in-laws Diana Fry (Dave), Doug Robinson (Toni), and Todd Robinson (Terry). Kevin was engaged and blessed with the second love of his life, Sheila Wing Navis. They were to be married in April 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife Deborah Robinson, father John, stepfather Elmer White and brother Kendall. He will be missed by a host of relatives and friends.
