Commencement Exercises Arthur Carpenter, supervisor of the state department of public instruction addressed the eighth grade rural school graduates of Allamakee county at commencement exercises held Wednesday afternoon, May 24, in the high school auditorium at Waukon. Howard Steet, Iowa State Teachers college directed the rural choir during the exercises. The program opened with the processional played by Mrs. Lester Ellingson at the piano. Curtis Webster pronounced the provocation and benediction. Dorothy Ashbacher, honor student from French Creek No. 1 school, served as master of ceremonies. An accordian solo was played by Anna Mae Schlitter, student at Franklin school No.11. Essay Awards Horace Clark, chairman of the Allamakee county soil district, presented the conservation essay awards to the various winners. They were:
Honor Roll Grads Following the address by Carpenter, M.H. Goede, county superintendent of schools, presented diplomas to 106 graduates. Of this number 21 were on the honor roll. They included:
