IOWA WAACs COMPLETE TRAINING
The six Iowa WAAC officer candidates who will be graduated and get their gold bars in ceremonies at Fort Des Moines Saturday got together to discus their hopes for the future. From left to right are: Irene O. Galloway of Templeton; Ruth Elizabeth Woods of Des Moines; Helen C. Grote of Neola; Mrs. Kola Snyder of Council Bluffs; Elizabeth Louise Flanagan of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Marcella Miller McCue of Greely. Officer course is being completed by 243 women.

Maj. Galloway, Coon Rapids, Attends Capital Army Parley
HEADQUARTERS, FRANKFURT MILITARY POST, GERMANY. Maj. Irene Galloway, Coon Rapids, Ia., who is serving with the U.S. occupation forces in Germany as WAC staff director of the European command, left Sept. 8 by MATS Constellation for Washington, D.C. to attend an army-wide staff directors meeting.
This is her second flight from Europe. In 1944, Maj. Galloway was the first sent by Col. Ovetta Hobby to inspect WACs stationed in England, France, Italy and Egypt In her present position she is the WAC personnel adviser to the commanding general of the European command.
Maj. Galloway was one of the first WAACs to report to the first WAAC training center at Des Moines and also one of the first called to Washington to serve in the development and growth of the corps. She is a graduate of St. Joseph's academy, Des Moines and studied at the American university, Washington, D.C.
Maj. Galloway, a sister of Maurice and Walter Galloway of Coon Rapids and Richard Galloway of Templeton, is the daughter of the last Mrs. Rose Galloway of Templeton.
Following the staff advisors meeting in Washington, Maj. Galloway plans to visit her family for a few days in Iowa prior to her return to the European command.
