James Herschel ‘Herschel’ Wilson was born Dec. 30, 1911 to Roland James and Mary Jane Hooker Wilson. He died Oct. 14, 1970 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Pvt. Wilson served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Wilson rites to be Saturday

Herschel Wilson, 58, a longtime Webster City resident, died Wednesday afternoon at the Hamilton County hospital. He had been in ill health for several years, more seriously the past several months.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. R.M. Roden officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

James Herschel Wilson, son of Roland James and Mary Jane Hooker Wilson, was born Dec. 30,, 1911 at Decatur, Ill. When he was a small child he moved to Webster City with his parents and was reared and educated in this community.

He was united in marriage Oct. 27, 1937, to Helen Berven, and the couple had since made their home in Webster City where Mr. Wilson was a car salesman for many years and more recently had been engaged in the livestock business.

He is survived by his wife; three sisters, Mrs. Howard (Mildred) Hill and Mrs. Edward (Alta) Johnson, both of Webster City, and Mrs. Cleada Smith of Decatur Ill., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Webster City Saddle Club.
