Gilbert (Gib) Wilson, 82, of Webster City, died Friday, April 3 at his home following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond M. Roden officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Flag folding services will be conducted by American Legion Post 191.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today and until the time of service.
Gilbert Morris Wilson, son of Edd and Stella King Wilson, was born Dec. 24, 1904 at Kinmundy, Ill., where he received his education.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with a medical battalion.
In 1929, he married Amy Urich. The couple resided in Webster City where he was engaged in farm work. To the union, two sons were born.
April 1, 1944, he married Irene Carnell at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City and Woolstock. For several yeaers he was employed at Webster City Products, formerly Beam Manufacturing. He retired in 1969.
He was preceded in death by his wife in Nov. of 1977. He continued to reside in Webster City.
He is survived by to sons, James and Eldon, both of Fort Dodge; four step-children, Alice Essig of Webster City, Barbara (Mrs. Lyle) Anderson of Williams, Marilyn (Mrs. Charles) Balius of Blythe, Calif., Gary Carnell of Saratoga, Ark.; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; sister, Margaret Mickelson of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy, one great-grandson, one granddaughter, his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
