Gerald A. Williams, 82, Woolstock, died at his home on Friday, Apr. 16, 1999. Graveside services were held Monday at the Williams Cemetery, with Gerald Caquelin officiating. Military rites were conducted by American Legion Post #191 of Webster City. Foster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Gerald Arliss Williams, son of Leonard and Gay Wagner Williams was born December 18, 1916 on a farm outside of Blairsburg. He attended rural schools in the Williams and Blairsburg area. He was in the U.S. Army in the artillery division from 1941-1945 serving in the Pacific Theater. Prior to the war and until his retirement, he worked for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. On Sept. 20, 1945, he married Arlette Lovelace in Fort Dodge. She preceded him in death in 1960. He lived in the Williams area till 1975 when he moved to Woolstock. He married Eleanor Spires Butler in Woolstock on Nov. 8, 1975.
Survivors are his wife, Eleanor; a son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Julie Butler, three daughters and sons-in-law, Marliss and Richard Shroll of Battle Creek, MI, Crystal and Dick Griffith, LeLarue and Marvin Gilbert, all of Webster City, one sister, Wilma Hames, Williams.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Donald G., and infant Gerald Jr., two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Williams, two sisters, Violet in infancy, and Dorothy Roe.
He was a member of the Methodist Church of Woolstock and American Legion Post #533 of Woolstock.
