Lt. John N. Whinery, home address 2838 Sunset Circle, has been awarded the army commendation ribbon by direction of the secretary of war for his outstanding performance as a company commander in an engineer training battalion of the army service forces training center, according to information received from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
