IN UNIFORM
Sgt. Walter L. Switzer, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Switzer, Sr., 1420 S. Linn Street, was promoted to his present rank recently after 15 months of foreign duty, according to a message from headquarters of the 13th air force in the Philippines. Sgt. Switzer was a pupil at East junior school and later was employed by a packing plant here. He entered the service in October 1942 and served at several bases in this country before going overseas. His unit is part of the veteran 13th (Jungle) air force that has seen service from Guadalcanal to Japan. Sgt. Switzer was awarded the good conduct medal and wears the Philippine liberation ribbon with three battle stars for participation in south and southwest Pacific campaigns.
