Furlough Hopes of Four Soldiers Here Are Blasted

“Return to camp at once” was the telegraph order awaiting Staff Sergeant C.M. Skalby when he arrived in Sioux City Wednesday night after 22 hours of driving to spend what he expected to be an 11-day leave absence with his wife and other relatives here. Sergeant Skalby said he must start for camp not later than Friday.

With him on the trip to Sioux City were Sergeant Norman G. Nichols and L. Stevens and Private Harold Huschamp of Sioux City and Private Joyce Gerling and Nyman Dunbar of Blue Earth, Minnesota.
