William M. Statler, Jr. was born in 1924 to William M. (Sr.) and Delia Schaar Statler. He died in 1943 and is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.
Lt. Statler served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 464th Squadron, 331st Bomb Group and died when His B-24E Liberator heavy bomber spun out of the clouds and crashed and burned in Taylor Canyon near Gunnison, WY. He was on a cross country and navigation flight from Casper, WY to El Paso, TX.
