Lloyd Darrell Schwendemann was born Oct. 2, 1922 to Harrison William and Ina Hildegard Lundgren Schwendemann. He died Apr. 27, 2014 and is buried in Dayton Cemetery, Dayton, IA.
Lloyd served in World War II with the U.S. Navy V-12 program at Iowa State University and served as a commissioned officer aboard the destroyer USS Cowie (DD-632), doing convoy duty in the Atlantic Ocean and later in the Pacific Ocean after his ship was converted to a mine sweeper.
