Matthew John Schirmer was born Nov. 28, 1909 to Frank and Lydia Labrune Schirmer. He died Feb. 14, 1945 and is buried in Saint Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Balltown, IA.
Pvt. Schirmer served in World War II with the U.S. Army 129th Infantry, 34th Infantry Division and was KIA in Manila, Philippine Islands.
