Paul Frederick Scharff was born Jun 9, 1916 to Frederick T. and Marie E. Hahn Scarf. He died May 28, 1944 and is buried in Madison Cemetery, Aurora, IA.
Lt. Scharff served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and died of wounds received in action in Germany. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, Unit Citations, and Air Medal and three oak leaf clusters. He was first reported MIA, later KIA/FOD.
