Leonard L. Raspotnik was born Jan. 16, 1919 to Frank and Antonette Selak Raspotnik. He died Aug. 1, 1943 and is buried in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.
Sgt. Raspotnik served in World War II with the U.S. army Air Corps 66th Bomb Squadron, 44th Bomb Group and was KIA during a bombing raid on the Ploesti oil fields in Rumania. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters.
