Gerrit Postma in Wyoming

Gerrit Postma writes from Fort Francis E. Warren, Wyoming, that he has been assigned as truck driver in the Quartermaster Corps and likes it just fine. The climate there is splendid this time of year, he states. He also gets along fine with the corporals and sergeants. He expects to remain there from 8 to 13 weeks. Army life isn't so bad at all even if it is entirely different than what he was used to before Gerrit says. His address is: Pvt. Gerrit Postma, Co. A, Reg. 3rd, Q.M.R.T.C. Building 560, Fort Frances E. Warren, Wyoming.

List of Names For Honor Roll Is Published Want List To Be Complete and Accurate

Names of 137 men and women from Rock Valley and vicinity, as follows, who are now serving or have served in the armed services, the Nurse’s Corps or in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps during this war will be the basis for the Honor Roll to be constructed and painted under the direction of the American Legion here in the near future. Additional names will be added from time to time to keep the Honor Roll complete.

Where names as given below are incomplete as to initials, or incorrect as to spelling, or if names are missing, the proper information should be given to Lawrence Richter, commander of Pfarrer-Fox Post. It is very desirable that the list be accurate and complete before work on the Honor Roll starts and all information should be provided promptly. ….. Postma, Gerrit …..

Wins Silver Star (photo) Sgt. Martin Postma

Sgt. Martin Postma, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Postma, wrote his folks that he is sending them the Silver Star. Martin didn't say for what particular action he was receiving the medal, but the story will probably come out later. He left for service in December, and it was a year ago last November that his folks received word that he had arrived safely overseas. Now he is with the Field Artillery somewhere in France. The Silver Star is given by the Army for exceptional gallantry in action, and is next to the Distinguished Service Cross.

Martin’s brother T-5 Gerritt Postma with the Quartermaster Truck Co. has a change of address and is evidently leaving for overseas again having been back in the states from Kiska for some time.
