Mr. and Mrs. John M. Petersen have received word of the hospitalization of their son, Lt. Henry Petersen, in France recovering from wounds received early in April. This is the second time he had been hospitalized because of injuries.

John Henry “Heinie" Petersen was born July 9, 1919 to John Martin and Bertha Louisa Reese Petersen. He died June 3, 2010 and is buried in Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming, IA.
1st Lt. Petersen served in World War II with the U.S. Army as a Tank Commander. As platoon leader during the Battle of the Bulge, he lead four tanks and 32 men into combat. He also served during the Normandy Invasion. He earned two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars.
