Charles Henry Leighty was born Oct. 5, 1917 to Earl and Mary Elizabeth Leighty. He died July 5, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, North Africa American Cemetery, Tunis, Tunisia and has a cenotaph in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, IA.
Lt. Leighty served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 20th Bomber Squadron, 2nd Bomber Group, Heavy and was MIA/KIA/FOD off the coast of Italy and was awarded the Air Medal.
