Sergeant Kenneth G. Laverty, member of an antisubmarine unit, has arrived safely in Africa, according to word received by his mother, Mrs. J. B. Waggmer, 1116 W. 15th Street. She also received word that her brother, Sergeant George Miller, Ida Grove, Iowa has arrived overseas. Mrs. Waggmer’s nephew, Lieut. Nate Bond of Ida Grove has been in Australia for more than a year.

Kenneth Gene Laverty was born Mar. 9, 1920 to Harry J. and Ruth E. Miller Laverty. He died Mar. 1, 1981 and is buried in Summit Cemetery, Yorktown, IA.
MSgt. Laverty served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
