PFC. ROBERT M. INMAN
Pfc. Robert Myron Inman, 20, of Vinton, has been killed in action in Germany, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Inman, have been notified by the War Department.  The young soldier died on April 20, 1945, while fighting with the 188th infantry of the 7th Army. He was born in Eden township and lived in the Vinton community all his life before enlisting in the army in February 1944.

A telegram received this morning by Mr. and Mrs. Myron Inman, Vinton farmers, stated that their son, Pfc. Robert Myron Inman, 20, was killed in action April 20, 1945, while fighting with the 188th infantry of Gen. Patch’s Seventh army.  Yesterday Inman’s parents received a letter from him written April 16.

Robert Inman was born May 22, 1924 on an Eden township farm. After attending rural schools in that township, he received further education in Vinton high school, graduating in 1943. In February, 1944, Pfc. Inman enlisted in the army and was sent to Fort McClellan, Ala., for his basic training. He was shipped overseas last July. Besides his parents, the youthful soldier is survived by two brothers, Richard and Roger, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Inman, Vinton.

Robert Myron “Myron" Inman was born May 22, 1924 to Myron C. and Flossie M. Kucker Inman. He died Apr. 20, 1945 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, Lorraine, France. He has a cenotaph in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, IA.

Pvt. Inman served in World War II with the U.S. Army Co. F, 180th Infantry, 45th Division. He served in France and Germany and was wounded in France in 1944. He gave his life for his country at Nurenberg, Germany.
